How to add your site to Google News
Posted by skumar in: HOW TO Internet Technology
Google News is a platform where you get news from different publishers about the same story or the top stories from all around the world. If you wish to add a particular site to the Google News, that site should follow some guidelines set by Google. The four guidelines are the webmaster guidelines, general guidelines, technical guidelines, and quality guidelines. The webmaster guidelines speak about the general and quality guidelines for any website to be indexed and ranked by Google. When you write the content for a site does not write it for search engines but for your users. Also make sure that Google bots can crawl your site easily since bots cannot check some file format efficiently.
News general guidelines say that the stories published are reliable, accountable, and are reported in time. The site should exhibit expertise and also should follow the journalism standards. The technical guidelines mainly speak about the Google bot which crawls the sites and about its limitations in crawling the sites (the crawler can include only HTML articles). You may even submit the sitemap of your news website so that the indexing is easy. Google does not accept sites which have paid advertisements along with the stories, and if you want your new stories to be included in the Google News make sure you remove those content from the site (quality guidelines). Now once you are sure that all the above guidelines are met you can submit your site for inclusion in the Google News. This is done by applying through Google News Publisher Center. This is a web tool where you can add and edit your news site’s information. To submit your site for Google News the follow the below given steps.
1. Go to the link https://partnerdash.google.com and log in using your Google Account credentials.
2. Once you are logged in click on News and you will get a new page where you can add URLs to the Publisher Center.
3. Under the My Sites section you can see all your sites and whether they are verified and a button for you to request the inclusion of your URL to Google News.
4. You may even request for separate URLs for sections in your site. That’s it, Google will verify and add the site if it passes the test.
Before applying for inclusion there are some verifications you have to do. To verify the ownership of the news site you have to submit the details in Google search console. Then review and update your site details, section URLs and labels according to the guidelines so that your site will pass the test from the Google algorithms. You even have the option to go to the Search Console directly from this page. The News field under My Sites tells you whether your site is included in the Google News by displaying “Included”. If your site is not yet added in the section you can do that by suggesting the website for Google News. This is just the overall summary of the process and you can always check in Google’s official website for more information.
